According to the Man Utd website, Erik ten Hag has already completed his first summer transfer.

Manchester United waited until the last minute to start their transfer business in Erik ten Hag's first window in charge, but things appear to be moving faster this summer.

Manchester United have promoted shirts with the name Marcel Sabitzer in their online clubs, fueling speculation that the loanee's switch is permanent.

Sabitzer came on loan from Bayern Munich at the end of the January transfer window, providing United with extra midfield depth following Christian Eriksen's injury. The Austrian international scored three goals in 18 appearances for Erik ten Hag's side, including a brace against Sevilla in the Europa League quarterfinals.

The 29-year-old was one of three January arrivals, all on loan, and the others will not be returning to Old Trafford next season. After his contract with parent club Crystal Palace expires in July, goalkeeper Jack Butland is expected to join Rangers, while forward Wout Weghorst is set to return to Burnley.

"It's very interesting that you can buy a 'Sabitzer 15' shirt but not a 'Weghorst 27' shirt," one Twitter user observed. "It's also worth noting that you can't buy a 'Garnacho 49.'..."

Suggestions have been made. Garnacho, who debuted with the number 75 jersey in the 2021-22 season before switching to 49 last season, could swap numbers again. In the meantime, Weghorst's old number 27 is displayed in the club shop with Alex Telles' name attached, despite the left-back spending last season on loan.

"Perhaps he'll stay after all?" In response to Sabitzer's inclusion, another fan stated. "If not, @ManUtd would have f**ked up."

Sabitzer battled for consistent playing time at Bayern Munich last season and discussed a possible permanent switch to Old Trafford in February. But, since then, the Bundesliga winners have parted ways with Julian Nagelsmann and hired Thomas Tuchel as manager.

"It's a loan at the moment, that's all I can say," Sabitzer remarked just a few weeks after arriving in England. "I like it here; I'm happy here; I like the team, I like the club, I like the atmosphere at Old Trafford." We'll see what happens this summer.

"It's been a hectic few days. I had to rush in, but I enjoy it. So far, I enjoy it. The crew extends a warm welcome to me. It was a slow start, but I had to come in quickly due to Casemiro's suspension. I'm ready for it, and have fun playing.

"You can sense it. I felt extremely happy in the team from the start - excellent spirit, nice aims, we're a wonderful team. It's entertaining. The manager is constantly talking to me about what he expects from me. That is something I attempt to do. "I'm feeling good about him and his tactics so far."
