Man United's website prohibits jersey sales as a hint about Cristiano Ronaldo's succession plan is dropped.

Manchester United have unveiled their new outfit for the upcoming 2023/24 season, however the No. 7 shirt that Cristiano Ronaldo departed in December remains unclaimed on the club website.

Alejandro Garnacho appears to be set to receive the historic No7 shirt at Manchester United, with the club website no longer accepting orders for his current shirt number.

Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, Eric Cantona, and George Best have all worn the No7 shirt for Manchester United. Because no one has claimed the number since Ronaldo left for Saudi Arabia in December, it is currently vacant.

However, there have been numerous clues in recent months that Garnacho may be poised to follow in the footsteps of his idol Cristiano Ronaldo and change numbers for the 2023/24 season. Since progressing from the academy to the main squad, the 18-year-old winger has worn No49.

However, with five goals and five assists in 36 games, the Argentina international is prepared to make a statement number change, with Jadon Sancho omitted.

United's new kit for the upcoming season has been unveiled, however fans cannot yet purchase one with 'Garnacho 49' on the back.

The club website's drop-down menu allows supporters to purchase every other combination of first-team player and number, although Garnacho is not among them. Notably, the space between 'Martinez 6' and 'Fernandes 8' has yet to be filled.

According to reports, United believe Garnacho is ready to step up and assume the No7 shirt. He earlier liked a tweet indicating the move, and his brother has given a not-so-subtle clue by uploading a photo of Garnacho with the shirt off.

Garnacho signed a new contract with United in April, committing his long-term future to the club. He has a contract at Old Trafford until June 2028 and is definitely ambitious.

If he accepts the No. 7 shirt, he will join Ronaldo, Edison Cavani, Alexis Sanchez, Memphis Depay, Angel Di Maria, and Antonio Valencia in United's recent history.

Garnacho grew up idolizing Ronaldo and enjoyed playing alongside him before his departure. He earlier paid respect to Ronaldo by executing his famous Siuuuuu celebration, and the forward presented him with a match ball after scoring a hat-trick against Norwich in April 2022.

"I feel very proud and emotional to have experienced these moments already, together with my family who has supported me every step of the way," he said after signing the new contract in April. "We are all humbled to have this opportunity to continue our journey at Manchester United, and I have already started working on achieving the next set of goals and objectives."

"The manager and his coaching staff have assisted me in every way, and with their help, I am developing each day to help the team succeed." I'm looking forward to the future and can't wait to make more unforgettable memories with this group in front of our incredible supporters."
