After a failed deal from Bayern Munich, Harry Kane has already made his sentiments known.
As he enters the final year of his Tottenham contract, Harry Kane continues to attract interest from English and German clubs, despite Spurs rejecting an opening proposal.
Tottenham striker Harry Kane has previously stated that he will likely wait before making a move abroad, despite renewed interest from Bayern Munich.
The German champions have made a first approach for England captain Joe Hart, who has just one year left on his Spurs contract. His present club, however, has said no, stating that they have no plans to part ways with the 29-year-old.
And Kane's earlier comments suggest that, even if Bayern and Spurs reach an agreement, the timing would need to be right for him to break Alan Shearer's Premier League goals record. With Manchester United also mentioned as a possible destination, the striker may have a busy summer.
Kane was asked about playing overseas in 2021 when speaking with Gary Neville on the Overlap. And, while he didn't entirely dismiss it, he did imply that it wasn't a priority for him in his prime.
"Of course, there's always the possibility of moving abroad one day," Kane remarked, "but I don't think that really interests me in the near future." However, the striker was 27 at the time and is now approaching his 30th birthday, knowing that Spurs will not be competing in the Champions League next season.
Kane has climbed the Premier League's all-time goalscorer ranks since that interview, taking second place last season by passing Sergio Aguero, Andy Cole, and Wayne Rooney. The Spurs striker, who scored 30 league goals last season, is now only 47 goals behind all-time leader Shearer, but would be unable to reduce the gap if he moved abroad.
"It's always there in the back of my mind, but I just take it game-by-game, season-by-season," Kane said after scoring his 200th Premier League goal in February. He added 13 more before the season ended, but it wasn't enough to ensure Spurs' place in Europe.
"It's unquestionably there to be broken, and I'm feeling good and fit, so we'll see what happens." It's been an incredible journey. I've been here since I was 11 years old; it's been 18 years of hard work and dedication on my part.
"I'm extremely proud to have represented this club and to have scored 267 goals for them, and to have scored 200 Premier League goals for them is something I'll never take for granted." I simply have to keep going, score as many as I can, and see what happens."
Shearer felt at the time that Kane was likely to surpass the 260 Premier League goals he scored in 14 seasons with Blackburn and Newcastle. "I know how much he wants it - he's told me - which is fine, because I was exactly the same," Shearer said to Premier League reporters.
"He'll do it if he stays fit and in this country." It's only a question of time. He's doing what great goal scorers do, and there aren't many of them around.
