The Man City manager claims that nothing "out of the ordinary" caused the new £700 million record.
Despite the club's off-field troubles with the Premier League, Manchester City chief executive Ferran Soriano argues that Pep Guardiola's genius and long-term planning are the reasons for the club's record revenues, which are currently in excess of £700 million.
The Blues have advanced to the top of European football, according to Manchester City CEO Ferran Soriano, without "doing anything out of the ordinary."
The day after the Treble champions revealed a sizable new sleeve sponsorship agreement with cryptocurrency exchange startup OKX, they came under further scrutiny due to the 115 allegations of financial malfeasance made by the Premier League.
According to a UEFA dossier that was leaked, City was paid £30 million in two installments over ten years ago by an unidentified individual from the United Arab Emirates to violate FFP rules. Soriano said that City produced income in excess of £700 million on their way to winning the Champions League, Premier League, and FA Cup last season, despite the fact that he did not address the ongoing legal dispute with the Premier League.
And he disclosed that Pep Guardiola's brilliance and the long-term strategy he established in 2012 are the key to their success.
It's about working hard; we haven't done anything extraordinary, according to Soriano.
"We now know that this year's revenues will exceed £700 million. This is the British record, and we are likely the best country in both Europe and the entire world.
This has developed over the previous ten years, and it is related to the football we play. We play excellent football, we have a good football team, and we win.
"That aids in increasing our product sales. Our sales last season were an increase of 80% over the season before. That was amazing, in our opinion. However, guess what? We are selling 80 percent more items in the first few weeks of the new season. These figures are accurate.
And he highlighted that Pep Guardiola's brilliance and the long-term strategy he implemented in 2012 are the keys to their success.
"Our sales were as high four days after winning the Champions League as what we typically sell in a month. Winning and playing solid football go hand in hand with this.
It is only reasonable that more people would want to watch our games, purchase our stuff, and sponsor us.
City earned £15 million annually when OKX agreed to sponsor their training gear last year. Additionally, as part of the new deal, both the men's and women's teams will wear shirts with the firm name on them.
Less than three weeks after City won the Champions League for the first time, completing the treble, the deal was finalized.
"I haven't seen anyone succeed without working very hard," Soriano added.
"Pep Guardiola is a genius who manages the team in such a creative and intelligent manner." But I can promise you that he arrives at the office quite early and leaves very late.
"Before winning the Champions League, we're in a group of very big teams."
