Gary Lineker cynically responds to Zlatan Ibrahimovic's statement slamming Manchester United.

The former England international was not in the mood to sympathize with ex-Manchester United player Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who was frustrated by a £1 wage decrease at Old Trafford.

Gary Lineker took to Twitter to mock Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the Swedish football legend's 2021 Manchester United comments resurfaced online.

Ibrahimovic spent two seasons at Old Trafford and helped the club win the Carabao Cup, but he still has a grudge towards the Red Devils due to a peculiar occurrence. The legendary, recently retired striker revealed he was taken aback by United's "small, closed mentality" after being docked £1 from his pay for sipping juice from the hotel minibar during an away trip.

Lineker retweeted sarcastically in response to Ibrahimovic's protest, "Let's get him a gofund.me page," a website dedicated to gathering funds for noble causes.

The ex-United man, on the other hand, does not see the irony, as he explains in his autobiography, Adrenaline.

"One thing surprised me: everyone thinks of United as a top club, one of the richest and most powerful in the world, and seen from the outside, it looked that way to me," he says. "However, once there, I discovered a small, closed mentality."

Ibrahimovic is not afraid to express exactly what he thinks and has frequently gone public with his criticism of a club, player, or management.

"We played for a while and then went home." Some time passed. My pay stub has arrived. I don't normally glance at it. I only do this at the end of the year to see what has arrived and what has left. But that time, for some reason, I was intrigued and saw they'd deducted a pound from my monthly wage.

"I called the team manager and asked, 'Excuse me, why have they deducted a pound from my salary?' The team manager looked at me and said, 'It was the fruit juice from the mini-bar.' 'Are you serious, are you kidding?' 'I'm not,' I say. If you order something here, you must pay for it.' 'Yes, but I didn't go to the motel on my own. I wasn't there On vacation. It was my place of employment. I was in town for Manchester. I have to drink if I have to play and I'm thirsty. I can't go out there dehydrated.'

"Are you kidding me? A quid? Such a thing would never happen in Italy. These are the nuances that make a difference and earn the players' respect."

It is unknown whether this event led Ibrahimovic to try to quit United before the conclusion of his contract, but his contract was mutually ended in March 2018 - when he still had three months left on it.

In his autobiography, he also describes how he was asked to show identification every time he entered the United training grounds, which irritated him because he felt he was the finest player in the world and should have been recognized.
