Jurgen Klopp's views on Jadon Sancho, who has been sold by Manchester United, say volumes.
The Liverpool manager has already spoken highly of Jadon Sancho, whose future at Manchester United has been called into question as rumours about a possible exit increases.
Jadon Sancho has had a rough two years at Manchester United since joining from Borussia Dortmund for £73 million in 2021.
The 23-year-old has battled for goals since joining United, and while he hasn't been as consistent as he was in Dortmund, there have been glimpses of his talent. Goals against Tottenham and Liverpool last season demonstrate that he is a man for the big stage.
When it comes to the Reds, boss Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of Sancho and his abilities. Despite the fact that the duo never met at Dortmund, with Klopp leaving before Sancho arrived, he has gone on record as a fan.
When Liverpool and Manchester United were both connected with Sancho in the summer of 2020, Klopp was clear about the fact that his club would struggle to reach Dortmund's asking price because the Reds were still struggling financially from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
"I don't think such a transfer will be possible this season," the German said, adding that "the red shirt [of Liverpool] would suit [him] very well."
Some Anfield fans hoped that Liverpool would re-sign Sancho the next summer, but attentions went elsewhere, and United eventually won the competition for his signature.
However, after two years of things not going as planned, there is now new talk that United are ready to move Sancho this summer.
Manager Erik ten Hag wants to make some big acquisitions this offseason and will have to give up some sellable assets to do so.
It is claimed that people at the top of the United hierarchy regard Sancho as one of those assets and would accept a price of as little as £45 million for the England international.
Having said that, Sancho is unlikely to join Klopp at Liverpool, even if leaving Old Trafford is on the cards. It is improbable that United would negotiate with its fierce rivals over such a transfer, and the Reds themselves are likely to be uninterested.
Last season, Sancho started 21 games for Ten Hag in the league alone, and he was used on both the left and right wings. In that period, he only had six goals and three assists.
Whether he stays in Manchester next season or moves on, Sancho must improve on those stats or risk seeing his stock plummet much lower.
