Saudi side swoop in for free agent De Gea', reuniting the goalkeeper with Ronaldo

Following the expiration of his contract with Manchester United, David de Gea has become a free agent, and reports suggest that Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr is considering bringing the Spanish goalkeeper to Saudi Arabia. While there is a possibility of de Gea re-signing with Manchester United, it is widely believed that he will be seeking a new challenge elsewhere. Given the recent trend of players moving to Saudi Arabia and the financial resources available to clubs in the region, it is natural to speculate about de Gea potentially making a move there.

According to The Sun, Al-Nassr is contemplating making an offer to entice the 32-year-old goalkeeper to join their ranks. This move would also see de Gea reunite with his former Manchester United teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined Al-Nassr last year after terminating his contract with the English club. It is reported that de Gea could earn 250,000 per week if he agrees to become Al-Nassr's new goalkeeper.

Despite Ronaldo's presence, Al-Nassr could not secure a league title last season, finishing second in the Saudi Pro League, five points behind the winners, Al-Ittihad. The club is currently in advanced talks to sign Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozovic. However, a potential move for Chelsea midfielder Hakim Ziyech hangs in the balance after he failed a medical in Saudi Arabia due to a knee problem, which resulted in a reduced salary offer.

While Manchester United initially decided not to offer de Gea a new contract, they could still retain him if both parties can reach a compromise regarding the terms of a new deal. De Gea has made a total of 545 appearances for Manchester United since his arrival from Atletico Madrid in 2011, winning the Premier League title in the 2012-13 season. His departure from the club after 12 years has prompted fans to reflect on his best and worst moments, ranging from impressive performances against Arsenal to occasional errors, such as those witnessed in his final season against Brentford.

Complicating matters further, de Gea and his fiance, Edurne Garcia, are currently preparing for their wedding, which has shifted his focus away from finalizing his footballing future. As the goalkeeper weighs his options, fans and pundits will be eager to see where he ultimately decides to continue his career and whether a move to Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia materializes.
