Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God so that things that are seen were not made of things which do appear.
The same principles govern faith in God and His Word as they do for faith in other things. The information you receive inspires faith. You can receive information from your spirit or any of your five human senses.
Any information that you choose to believe is reliable and worthy of consideration enters your belief system at that point. You gain faith in God in this way.
(Keep in mind that in the New Testament, the same word in the verb is "believe" and in the noun is "faith".)
Based on our assessment of the evidence put forth to us, each of us decides whether or not to believe something.
We must first have evidence that persuades us before we can adjust any belief, though, because faith is always grounded on some kind of proof.
We are forced to make decisions based on the question, "Is this evidence enough to take on faith?", by the evidence that life continuously provides us.
God's Word is the main piece of evidence He has provided for us to have faith in Him. God is trustworthy because He is not a liar. God's words are always fulfilled.
ROMANS 10:17
Romans 10:17, when translated literally, explains that accepting the message from God results in faith.
How does one come to believe in God? By embracing the information that has been provided about God as true. By deciding to embrace God's message, one can choose to have faith in him.
We must not confine our comprehension of the origin of faith to our tangible sense of hearing. Every method of learning about God is a path that can help us develop our faith.
According to John 20:8 and John 20:29, one's confidence in the Bible can be a result of what one sees. The feeling of touch might also lead to a belief in God.
Otherwise, no blind or deaf person could ever be saved since they read Braille with their fingers to understand God's word.
You can turn to the Bible and make up your mind about what you want to believe. As the Bible is God's written Word, you will then have faith in Him.
Therefore, if someone claims they lack faith, the remedy for them is to consider the support provided by God's Word on the matter, after which they can decide whether to believe what God said as true.
PRAYER: I develop faith by deciding to regard God's Word as factual and deserving of action.
