Ziyech breaks silence on Chelsea transfer collapse

Chelsea's hopes of receiving an £8 million windfall from Hakim Ziyech's departure were dashed as his move to Al-Nassr fell through at the final stage. Earlier in the year, a potential transfer to Paris Saint-Germain seemed imminent on deadline day, but it collapsed due to the failure to submit the necessary documents in time. Despite the near-departure, Ziyech continued to feature in the starting lineup for Chelsea's first game in February and made ten more appearances in the Premier League throughout the remaining months of the season.

In response to reports suggesting knee issues, Ziyech took to Instagram to refute the claims. He posted a photo of his knees with a caption accompanied by laughing emojis, sarcastically addressing the alleged problems.

As Mauricio Pochettino took charge as Chelsea's new manager, a summer exodus plan was set in motion, resulting in the departure of ten players, including Kai Havertz and Mateo Kovacic. Two more players are expected to follow suit shortly. Chelsea still likely intends to offload Ziyech before the start of the 2023/24 season, but finding a potential suitor might prove challenging.

Ziyech's contract with Chelsea runs until 2025, making it highly improbable that any contract renewal or immediate transfer will be negotiated. Potential teams may hesitate upon hearing about the findings from Al-Nassr's medical tests, as reservations and concerns could arise. However, Ziyech himself dismisses those claims as false, clearly refuting any suggestions of underlying health issues.

In summary, Chelsea's expectation of an £8 million windfall from Hakim Ziyech's departure fell through when his move to Al-Nassr collapsed at the final hurdle. Despite failed transfers earlier in the year, Ziyech continued to feature prominently for Chelsea. Mauricio Pochettino's arrival as manager initiated a summer exodus plan, resulting in ten players leaving, with two more expected to follow. Chelsea still aims to offload Ziyech, but finding a suitable buyer may pose challenges. Ziyech's contract runs until 2025, and any immediate transfer or contract renewal seems unlikely, given potential reservations teams may have after Al-Nassr's medical tests. However, Ziyech himself denies the claims surrounding his knees.
