Mason Mount teases £55 million Man United transfer after being photographed wearing shirt for the first time

Mason Mount is ready to join Manchester United after leaving Chelsea after 18 years in a £55 million transfer agreement between the two Premier League rivals.

Mason Mount has completed a medical to complete his £55 million transfer from Chelsea to Manchester United.

The 24-year-old England international has agreed a five-year contract with United, who beat rivals Liverpool and Arsenal to his signature. Mount had been with Chelsea for 18 years, but with one season remaining on his contract, the Blues chose to transfer him in order to reclaim a cost.

The midfielder was seen holding a red shirt at a Cheshire hotel on Tuesday morning before traveling to the Red Devils' training site, Carrington. Mount arrived on Monday for a medical and to meet his new teammates, who had returned for pre-season testing.

Mount is set to join United by the end of this week, with his debut perhaps coming in next Wednesday's friendly against Leeds in Oslo, Norway. Erik ten Hag, manager of the Red Devils, is looking forward to working with the Chelsea academy graduate, whom he first saw when plying his trade at Chelsea.

Six years ago, he tried out for Vitesse Arnhem in the Netherlands.

Mount has subsequently won the Champions League and represented England in two major tournaments, becoming a favorite of managers including Thomas Tuchel, Gareth Southgate, and Frank Lampard. After a disappointing season with Chelsea and an injury-plagued 2022-23 season, he'll be looking to thrive again at Old Trafford.

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has already encouraged Mount to succeed, declaring on his FIVE YouTube show: "I think Mason Mount is a very good signing." He'll be an important member of the team. He's a great player, and I admire the way he plays football.

"Every manager he's had as a guide has been nothing but positive about him, has loved having him, and has been an integral part of everything they've done." He was injured last season, so his numbers dropped slightly, but he played well at Chelsea and won the Champions League in one of those seasons.

"Goals, assists, chances created, deep-box runs, always a goal threat, impacts games, decisive player, must play." When he returns to that... Last season, I'd write him off due to injuries and a lack of confidence, but if you get the Mason Mount over the last couple of years at Chelsea, you get that in a red shirt, beautiful."
