Bruno Fernandes expresses his emotions about Mason Mount after joining Manchester United for £60 million.

Mason Mount, an England international, has signed a five-year contract with Manchester United after leaving Chelsea for a fee of £60 million.

Mason Mount was welcomed to Manchester United by Bruno Fernandes after his transfer from Chelsea was completed on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old England international has agreed to a five-year contract extension with Erik ten Hag's side. United have paid £55 million in advance, with a possible £5 million in add-ons. Mount vows that he "will be giving everything" to the cause.

Fernandes was one of the first United players to greet Mount when he arrived at Old Trafford. The club's vice-captain did so in a lighthearted manner, sharing a photo of himself pulling Mount's shirt. "Why did you take so long to sign?" he wrote. Mason Mount, welcome."

It's not the first time Fernandes has spoken in on Mount. Two years ago, the Portuguese maestro ranked his new teammate as one of the Premier League's top nine players, complimenting his consistency and "top" performances.

During an interview with United's website, Fernandes made the accusation. Mount's performances in 2021 helped Chelsea win the Champions League final – assisting Kai Havertz's winner against Manchester City – as well as the European Super Cup and reach the FA Cup final.

"I really like Mason Mount - he's been consistent since the beginning of the season, but if people look at the numbers, he hasn't had as many goals or assists as other players, but for me, as a performance, he's been really, really top," Fernandes remarked.

Mount has been on United's radar for several weeks, with Chelsea rejecting three bids. To avoid the negotiations continuing into pre-season, the two teams eventually agreed on a sum. Both Manchester United and Chelsea have crucial tours coming up.

"It's never easy leaving the club where you grew up, but Man Utd will provide an exciting new challenge for the next phase of my career," Mount told United's official website. "Having competed against them, I know how strong the squad I'm joining is, and I can't wait to be a part of this group's drive to win major trophies."

"Everyone can see that the club has made significant progress under Erik ten Hag." After meeting with the management and discussing his goals, I couldn't be more eager for the upcoming seasons and am prepared for the hard work that is expected here.
