Mason Mount discusses Erik ten Hag's impact on his decision to join Manchester United from Chelsea.
The England midfielder has completed his move from west London to Old Trafford and says he admires Manchester United's achievements under Dutch manager Louis van Gaal.
Mason Mount believes Manchester United's progress under Erik ten Hag is a major reason he joined the club.
The England midfielder completed a £60 million move from Chelsea on Wednesday and immediately praised the Dutch manager, who won the Carabao Cup in his first season in charge.
"It's never easy leaving a club where you grew up, but Manchester United will provide an exciting new challenge for the next phase of my career," he stated.
"Having competed against them, I know how strong the squad I'm joining is, and I can't wait to be a part of this group's drive to win major trophies."
"Everyone can see that the club has made significant progress under Erik ten Hag."
"After meeting with the manager and discussing his plans, I couldn't be more excited for the upcoming seasons and am prepared for the hard work that is expected here."
"I am extremely ambitious; I know what it is like to win major trophies and what it takes to do so." I'll do anything to have that experience again at Manchester United."
"Mason is an extremely intelligent footballer with so many fantastic technical qualities that will significantly add to our squad," United football director John Murtough stated. We have long appreciated his abilities, and we are thrilled that he has chosen to advance his career at Old Trafford.
"His style of play and attributes are a perfect fit for this squad, and we all believe that working with Erik ten Hag and his coaching staff will only help him improve further."
Mason is a world-class player, but he can also enhance the players around him with his game intelligence and tactical awareness. We were particularly pleased by his strong desire to join United, as well as his quest for more success, as we strive to improve our performance levels in the coming season and beyond."
Mount announced his departure from Chelsea in a heartbreaking Instagram post on Tuesday night.
"Given the speculation over the last six months, you may not be surprised." "However, it doesn't make it any easier to tell you that I've decided to leave Chelsea," he stated.
