"What I have in mind is the Ghana Premier League. I have a base in Accra, so one day I might play for a team there," he remarked.If his goal of playing in the GPL comes true, the former Lorient player will join a growing list of Black Stars players who returned to the local league in their final years of competition.
The Black Stars players who have returned are Agyemang Badu, Sulley Muntari, Agyemang Badu, and Samuel Inkoom. They spent the majority of their careers in Europe.
The 31-year-old has a successful career, having played for a number of prestigious European clubs, like Olympique Marseille, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, and others.He is the brother of players André and Ibrahim Ayew and the son of former Ghanaian captain Abedi Pele. Ayew, who was raised in France and was born in Marseille, began his professional life with Lyon Duchère before enrolling in the Marseille academy in 2006.
Ayew made his 2010 debut for Ghana and has since amassed 90 caps. He has participated in five Africa Cup of Nations tournaments (2012, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2021), helping them place second in 2015. He has also played in two FIFA World Cups (2014 and 2022).
Ayew joined Marseille in 2006 as a trainee. In 2009, he committed to a three-year professional deal with Marseille. On December 16, 2009, in a league game against Lorient, Jordan Ayew scored the equalizer to make his senior squad debut.
