PSG Chairman confirms Real Madrid-linked Kylian Mbappe will be sold this summer if he doesn’t sign new contract

In recent weeks, there have been strong rumors linking Kylian Mbappe with a move to Real Madrid. The speculation intensified after the French international confirmed his intention to leave Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) as a free agent at the end of the upcoming season.

Mbappe had signed a two-year contract with PSG in 2022, with the option of a third year. However, he has made it clear that he does not plan to activate that option, which would enable him to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club as early as January.

Real Madrid, eager to secure Mbappe's services, are willing to wait until next summer to sign him on a free transfer. This approach aligns with Mbappe's contract situation. However, PSG is determined not to let their star player depart without receiving a transfer fee. Nasser Al-Khelaifi, PSG's Chairman, expressed their stance in an interview with Le Parisien, stating that if Mbappe does not agree to a new contract within the next week or two, the club will look to sell him this summer.

Al-Khelaifi made it clear that no player, including Mbappe, is bigger than the club. If the French forward refuses to extend his contract, PSG will be open to selling him now rather than losing him for free next year. This development has forced Real Madrid to reconsider their initial plan of waiting until the end of the season to secure Mbappe's signature.

While Real Madrid had been content to wait, PSG's intention to sell Mbappe now means that the Spanish club may need to make a significant financial investment to acquire him. The potential transfer fee, which PSG is expected to demand, could alter Real Madrid's strategy and prompt them to negotiate a deal during this summer's transfer window.

The situation surrounding Kylian Mbappe's future remains uncertain, with both Real Madrid and PSG holding strong positions. Real Madrid had hoped to secure him as a free agent, but PSG's determination to sell could force them to enter into negotiations sooner than anticipated. Fans and observers eagerly await the outcome of these discussions as one of the most talented young players in the world contemplates his next move in the footballing world.
