Alidu Seidu has been a revelation and standout player since his inclusion in the Black Stars squad during the World Cup in Qatar. Foot Mercato reports that Clermont’s 23-year-old Ghanaian central defender is under interest from fellow Ligue 1 side RC Lens and an unnamed Serie A club. A lot of people voiced their anger when he was dropped in Ghana's subsequent World Cup matches.
Injury took a toll on him upon returning to Clemontfoot, but he came out stronger to help his team maintain their status in Ligue 1. He came into the spotlight after their win against Lyon and gave an amazing performance during the match between PSG and Marseille as well.
Alidu Seidu, 23, arrived at Clermont in 2019, following his participation in a tournament near Saint-Étienne at the Jean-Marc Guillou Academy. Since then, the Ghanaian international has experienced everything with the Auvergne club. From Ligue 2 promotion to stabilizing in Ligue 1 to the World Cup in Qatar last winter, where he debuted for his country, he has gone on to add more caps to his belt.
The chubby defender Alidu Seidu can play as a center-back but also on the right side of the field, where he has excelled for his club and country. Seidu has increased in prominence and performance in recent months in Ligue 1, becoming an indisputable starter in the 2022–23 campaign with Clermont Foot 63. The team defied expectations this season by finishing 8th in Ligue 1 with some amazing scores against the big teams.
His standout performance this season has attracted fellow Ligue 1 side RC Lens to sign him for the upcoming season to bolster their squad. According to sources, a Serie A club has shown interest in the Ghanaian defender with an offer of around €12 million. He is currently contracted to CF63 until June 2027, but the Ligue 1 club could allow him to go with a suitable offer as long as the player is happy at the club. He also had more playing time under his belt at his parent club, and he is gearing up for the pre-season matches.
