LGBTQ+ are not 'human rights'Education minister defends anti-gay bill 


The Deputy
 Minister ofEducation, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, has given his support to the Anti-LGTBQ+ Bill before the Parliament of Ghana. Parliament has begun debatingthe passage of an anti-LGTBQ+ law to ban homosexuality andunnatural sex. 

On
 Wednesday, parliamentarians unanimously voted in favor of the Sexual Rights Bill, 2022, which is to ensure that sexual rights are right in Ghana's family values. The bill seeks to criminalize feminist, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ+) and related activities. 

The bill, when it goes into effect,will make homosexuality a punishable crime and violators could face prison terms. TheSpeaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin and some representatives such as Sam Nartey George; Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Ningo-Prampram; Ms. Della Adjoa Sowah, NDC MP for Ho West; NDC MP for Kpando, Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini; NDC MP for Tamale North and Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for Assin South, defended the bill. The anti-LGBTQ+ bill, which wasaccepted by 275 members of parliament, will continue to be reviewed, and will then undergo a third reading before becoming law. 

Defending Peace FM chat program \"Kokrokoo", Rev. Ntim Fordjour stressed that tolerating homosexuality would cause disaster for the country. 

He said the bill would make the LGBTQ+ community slow downand restrict their behavior and also prevent them from instilling their bad habits in the younger generation. ReverendNtim Fordjour also said that this law was made to enforce the law against unnatural sexual relations between people and provides detailed information on how to conductunacceptable sexual behavior. "LGBTQ is not a human right, itis immoral. . . " he told Kwami Sefa Kayi.


"If
 we allow everyone to do what they want and engage insexual desire because it will nothave negative consequences, that is not true. It will bring negative consequences for the country,” he added.
