Erik ten Hag handed Marcus Rashford his next assignment not long after he became the first Manchester United player in a decade to record 30 goals in a single season.
The Dutchman, speaking in front of a room full of journalists after his United team clinched a top-four finish with a magnificent 4-1 win against Chelsea at Old Trafford, threw down the gauntlet to Rashford, challenging him to score 40 goals in a single season.
"His game has a lot of room for improvement," Ten Hag stated. "I am confident he can score even more points." Take, for example, his last 10 games, in which he did not score many goals. I believe he just has two or three, so he can improve.
"I am pleased that he has recovered from what he did last season." We helped him in whatever way we could, not only with the way we played, but also with his emotional state.
