There was a serious commotion during a working visit by members of the National Democratic Congress, NDC in parliament to the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) on Friday, July 7, 2023.

A video that is making rounds on social media indicates the Member of Parliament for Abetifi constituency in the Eastern Region who doubles as the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong in a hot exchange of words with his colleagues in the Minority Caucus.

The Minister for Food and Agriculture in what appeared as a move to shield somethings happening at the institution, can be heard telling the Minority Leader " You can' t do that, and you were a deputy Finance Minister and what do you know about paying people or payment that has been made? "

Some members of the group could also be heard telling the Minister " You should be the last person to get angry. If you had solved it, we will not be here and so you don' t shout at us like that. It is disrespectful. "

The Minister, in turn, fumed and can be heard telling the Minority Leader, Cassiel Ato Forson, " You are a leader, and you don' t bring the press to a discussion. "

It is unclear what might have triggered the uninformed visit leading to the scuffle between him and an entire caucus.

Meanwhile, members of the National Food Suppliers Association are picketing at the Buffer Stock to demand the payment of their two years GH¢278 million arrears for food supplied to senior high schools across the country.

The Minister visited the disgruntled food suppliers on Thursday evening, July 6, and promised to liaise with the Ministry of Finance to have their arrears paid.

It was after the picketing the minority group visited the scene and the scuffle started.

Meanwhile, many social media users have expressed interest in the matter:

" Good job. Kudos and bravo to the MINORITY MPS( NDC MPS), " Asem noted

" The Best Minority in The World, " Mohammed praised

" The Npp minister is hot, " Prosper said

" A former Deputy Finance Minister not supposed to know about payment? " Toni indicated

" In a serious country, this minister is fired, " Kpodo opined

" This one will not help NDC to come to power the should rather change a different strategy, " Alhassan said

" If my mind serves me right, this man was approved by these members of parliament.

Didn' t they know this attitude of his before they approve?

Hmmmmmm, Ghana, our beloved country is in serious trouble, " Godfred asked.
