One dead and another injured in a bloody accident on Tema road


One person died and another seriously injured after a bloodyaccident on the Accra-Tema highway on Saturday morning.

According to officials from theTema region of the Ghana National Fire Service, an empty DAF tanker was en route toTema from Accra when it veered off the road. He threw himselfinto a ditch in the middle of the road where a huge void landedon his side.


The impact killed the driver and left one other passenger trapped inside the vehicle. This caused drivers and passengers to try to find alternative routes to their destinations.


Explaining the incident, the fire department said: “Firemen rescued the victim and Ghana police took him to Tema General Hospital. “A pedestrianwas hit by a car during the process and was taken to thehospital by the ambulance team at the time.

"The
 lifeless body was recovered and handed over to the police," the officer said. Explaining the incident, the District Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service Highway Fire Station DO II Richmond Vanderpuye said hereceived an ongoing call from Police Inspector Albert Amofa Adade from the Ghana Police Service reports of an accident on the Accra to Tema section of the road near the bridge. underAshaiman at 3.55am.

 team of staff led by Level II Commander Samuel Tetteh Nartey was sent to the scene at 03:56. “When they arrived at the scene of the accident at 4am, they discovered that the accident involved an empty DAF tanker named GN 2139 - 17.

“The main part of the DAF truck was completely damaged. The cause of this accident is not easy.
