The summer 2023 transfer window has seen a host of innovative new players who have been signed by most of Europe's top clubs. These are the 10 most expensive signings of the June 2023 summer transfer window.

1. Jude Bellingham - English central midfielder joined Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window of June 2023 for 103.4 million euros.

2. Kai Havertz - German attacking midfielder joined Arsenal from Chelsea in June 2023 for a fee of 76.6 million euros. His ability to adapt to different positions makes him a better signing.

Liverpool have perfected their attack plan with players like Cody Gakpo and Darwin Núñez replacing Sadio Mané and Roberto Firmino.

Manchester United and Liverpool have had interesting seasons in recent times. The second person finishes higher in the table; Jürgen Klopp's men won 7-0 in this historic match at Anfield. With qualifying for the Champions League, Manchester United achieved their campaign goal, but Liverpool did not. Now, both teams face an epic summer in preparation for the 2023/24 season.

Liverpool have so far brought in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, while Manchester United have signed Mason Mount from Chelsea and can follow this development by adding goalkeeper André Onana from Inter.

Also on Manchester United's agenda, and arguably the most important place for it to function well, is a new No. 9, with Atalanta's Rasmus Højlund as the main contender.

The Manchester Evening News reports that Manchester United have begun transfer talks for the Serie A star. The Red Devils have been tracking the player for months and Erik ten Hag is said to have had a video call with him in May.

This report says Atalanta is looking for up to $109 million (£85m/€100m) for the player, while The Telegraph suggests that Manchester United may be willing to bargain at $64m (50 million pounds/58 million euros).

But even with a price as low as $64 million, it seems like a big bet for Manchester United. Suggestions that Højlund could be the 'new Erling Haaland' seem a bit premature. Coming from Scandinavia, comparisons are probably inevitable (and would be even more if the two ended up in Manchester). But Højlund has only scored 27 goals in 87 appearances in his career so far. The Dane has six goals in five games for his country but he was playing in Austria for Sturm Graz until last summer.

There is obviously talent there, but valuing it comes into play even more when you consider the value Liverpool have found in the market. Currently working in midfield and defence, the Reds have strengthened their attacking squad with numerous signings over the past two years.

Manchester United wanted both Cody Gakpo and Darwin Núñez, but Liverpool won the race for the pair. Gakpo has an initial price of just $47 million (£37 million/€43 million) while Núñez can go up to $109 million with add-ons, but both have high critical merits much more than Højlund as a basis for analysis.

Luis Díaz cost the same as Gakpo when he arrived from FC Porto in January 2022, Diogo Jota had just $52m (£41m/€48m) when he arrived from Wolves with Premier League experience and the value of Mohamed Salah says it all. it's him.

After beating Manchester United on a number of early attacking goals, Liverpool helped force Ten Hag to look for other options in a position where the Old Trafford team were in dire need of reinforcements to support Marcus Rashford.
