Free SHS has improved thequality of secondary education -Bawumia
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says the quality of secondary education has improved significantly under the free secondary school (SHS) policy, contrary to popular opinion.
He said that despite the significant increase in enrollment under the policy, students are doing better in WASSCE than in previous years. "Compared to the poor performance we saw in 2015 in general pass in the mainWASSCE, we have 41% and in 2022 all pass has increased to 64%," he said.
Many educationists believethat the quality of secondary education has declined below the zero SHS, with many calling for reform.
