. Aisha Huang is a notorious Chinese galamsey kingpin who is on trial for her alleged involvement in the illegal mining sector of Ghana. She has told the court in Accra that neither she nor any of her business concerns have ever been involved in galamsey.


She explained this in the opening of her defense on Monday, July 10, 2023, in the State's case against her.

En Huang, more commonly known as Aisha Huang, gave a statement to the court in which she explained her relationship with four other accused people and denied ever being involved in galamsey.

Concerning the galamsey charge, she told the court: " My company and I have never mined ourselves or assisted any other individual or group in doing so.

"I don't have the foggiest idea and have not been to any of the locales caught in the recordings, pictures and guides offered in proof by the arraignment witnesses," the charged told the court managed by Equity Lydia Osei Marfo.

She explained that she lived in Ahodwo, Kumasi, in the Ashanti region, in relation to the other accused people; She owned a supermarket, where she learned basic English to manage the business's day-to-day operations.

She went on to say that customers came from Ghana as well as other Chinese nationals.

"I'm a Chinese public and inhabited Ahodwo, Kumasi in the Ashanti District of the Republic of Ghana from 2011 until I was extradited in December 2018.

"I say that from 2013 to 2018, I ran a supermarket known as Aisha Supermarket in Ahodwo, Kumasi, that primarily served Chinese customers. I say again that I have no proper English or Twi language training and can't peruse or compose any of these two dialects.

"I say once more that by prudence of my extended stay in Ghana and collaborations with Ghanaians, I have a novice's enthusiasm for the English language for my everyday daily practice in Ghana.

"I repeat that because of my long stay in Ghana, my supermarket's operation, and my beginner's understanding of spoken English, I became very popular among Chinese nationals, my people, who live in Ghana, especially those who find their way to Kumasi specifically and the Ashanti Region in general because most of them cannot speak or understand Twi or English, which are the primary languages of communication and interaction in the Region.


“I became a point of reference, the go-to person, and a safe custody location for the majority of my people, which I am happy to have done despite the enormous responsibilities and risks that came with it, such as the ongoing prosecution.

"I likewise turned into a perspective for most Ghanaians and some state establishments remembering the Ghana Migration Administration for their dealings with Chinese nationals in the district," she expressed in her observer proclamation, she added.

Aisha Huang was rearrested after she was localized from the nation, however found her direction back inside a period that she was not permitted to get back to Ghana.

She is being investigated on charges of entering Ghana while disallowed from reemergence in spite of area 20(4) of the Movement Act, 2000, Act 573; also, charges of participating in unlawful mining.
