Barcelona working on loan exit as €40m asking price scares off interest

Barcelona's summer transfer activity has been relatively quiet, particularly after Lionel Messi's decision to join Inter Miami. The club's lack of significant sales has hindered their ability to make ideal signings, leading them to explore alternative solutions.

Ferran Torres is one such case. The 23-year-old has endured a disappointing 18 months at Barcelona since his move from Manchester City. While under Pep Guardiola, he displayed versatility and a penchant for scoring goals, his contributions last season were limited to just six goals and assists in 33 appearances.

Although Barcelona would be open to selling Torres, his poor form means they are unlikely to secure the desired fee. With a minimum asking price of €40 million, any lower offer would result in a loss for the club. As a result, Barcelona is now working on securing a loan move for Torres.

The return of Ez Abde, emergence of Lamine Yamal, the unlikely departure of Ansu Fati, and the competition for minutes from Raphinha, Gavi, Ousmane Dembele, and Robert Lewandowski all contribute to the limited playing time Torres is expected to receive. While the Spanish international is aware of the club's intentions, he plans to use the preseason to convince manager Xavi Hernandez that he deserves a place in the team.

From Barcelona's perspective, they want to avoid further depreciation in Torres' value and hope that a loan move will provide him with an opportunity to showcase his abilities once again. However, as with many of Barcelona's plans, the success of this strategy depends on their ability to persuade Torres to accept an exit, even if it is just on a temporary basis. Torres may have observed Ansu Fati's stance and believes he too deserves the chance to prove himself.

In conclusion, Barcelona's relatively quiet summer transfer window has led them to explore alternative solutions for players like Ferran Torres. His disappointing performances have made it challenging to secure a favorable transfer fee, prompting the club to pursue a loan move for him. Barcelona hopes that Torres can regain his form elsewhere while also maintaining his market value. However, the success of this plan hinges on convincing Torres to accept the temporary exit. Torres, inspired by Ansu Fati's stance, aims to convince Xavi Hernandez during preseason that he deserves a place in the team.
