The former Dutch international, 52, was transported to intensive care on Friday while on vacation in Croatia after suffering a brain bleed.
Van der Sar's old club Ajax, where he most recently served as chief executive, stated he was in stable health, and the 130-cap international has received well-wishes from around the world.
Jansen stated on the KieftJansenEgmondGijp podcast, as reported by the Dutch publication VI.nl: "Of course, things are not going well. However, this is not the case. That's what it means to be in control.
"You must protect the family in this situation." He's in capable hands. His wife, Annemarie, is there with their son. The Netherlands is in constant contact with us regarding how to proceed."
"He needs to rest very well," he stated of his client's condition.
"We are confident that this will work out, but the stakes are high." A brain haemorrhage is quite dangerous. She (Annemarie) experienced it in 2009. She remembers a lot of what happened to her back then."
The incident occurred a month after Van der Sar resigned from his position at Ajax, as Jansen claims he instructed him to do.
"Edwin and I have had a number of conversations," he admitted.
"He made that decision weeks before." 'Edwin, you have to stop,' I urged. This is completed. You did what needed to be done.' You will never get it properly again after a certain point."
On Friday, Ajax issued a statement in response to the news.
"Edwin van der Sar will remain in intensive care for the time being," confirmed the doctors.
"His condition is steady yet worrying. Ajax relays this information on behalf of Edwin's wife, Annemarie van der Sar.
"The Van der Sar family and Ajax are grateful and deeply moved by the outpouring of support."
