Kalvin Phillips, a Manchester City and England midfielder, has spoken out about his father's stint in prison and outlined his plans for him if he is released.


They didn't get to see one other very often, with interaction previously limited to phone discussions. Phillips will now be the subject of an Amazon Prime Video documentary. The 27-year-old disclosed his intentions for the show, saying he wanted to exhibit a more vulnerable side while also emphasiz


"I wanted to show my side of the story, and my move from Leeds to City," Phillips explained to BBC Five Live. "I want to inspire children with stories like mine." When I was younger, I didn't have a father figure.


"I went to see him a couple of months ago and told him I wanted to help him when he got out, to help him settle down and to make sure he didn't go back to prison like he always did."


"'Kalvin, all I want to do is travel and watch you play football,' he remarked. That will suffice for the rest of my life.'


"He said he's missed so many things, and seeing me now on one of the best teams in the world, it would just be a joy to come and watch me all the time," I added.


Phillips has previously discussed the difficult circumstances surrounding his relationship with his father.


"I drive past him every morning," he claimed, according to talkSPORT. I've seen him a few times, but I don't like going in and seeing him in jail.


"I'd rather talk on the phone." I talk to him every few weeks. He is pleased with me. Leeds is his name. He's spent his entire life in Leeds. He called me a few weeks after we were promoted and said, 'Listen to this.'


"Everyone in prison who was waiting for a phone call was there, singing Marching on Together and banging on the walls."
