It has been brought to the attention of around thirty-five polling station executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tano North Constituency in the Ahafo Region that their names have been removed from the book of certified delegates maintained by the party for no apparent reason.

As the party's presidential primary to select a flagbearer for the election 2024 draws near, the executives who feel they have been wronged have made an appeal to the national leadership of the party, pleading with them to step in and ensure that the appropriate action is taken before "the party is torn apart in the constituency."

Joshua Anumba, the Youth Organiser of the Boaso CMB Shed Polling Station and the spokesperson for the aggrieved executives, stated in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Duayaw-Nkwanla that the anomaly was discovered during the album verification exercise and that ever since then, "constituency executives have been divided."

Mr. Anumba warned that if the problem was not rectified as soon as possible, it could have a negative impact on the prospects of the party in the constituency during the subsequent general election.

Since the constituency executives were elected, he lamented that the NPP in the constituency had been characterised by petty squabbles, infighting, and internal squabbling. He prayed that the leadership would immediately intervene and overcome whatever "internal impasse" existed. Mr. Anumba has been quoted as saying, "Tension is mounting within the party in the constituency, and if the right thing is not done, then we should head for doom in the election 2024."

Christiana Amponsah, Women Organiser, Buokukuruwa CMB Shed, Jonah Anumbia, Secretary, Akokoammon CMB Shed, and Bernard Opoku Fofie, Secretary, Duayaw-Nkwanta Circuit Court were on a list of the polling station executives that were missing from the album. The affected people signed the list, and it was made available to GNA.

Other organisers include Gladys Asantewaa, who works for the Duayaw-Nkwanta Circuit Court as the Women's Organiser, Benjamin Acheampong, who works for the Apataasu Temp Booth as the Youth Organiser, and Mercy Serwaa and Alia Amea, who work for the Koforidua UA Primary School as the Organiser and Youth Organiser, respectively.

The remaining members were Yaw Boakye, who served as Secretary for Binkyim CMB Shed; Agyenim Boateng, who served as Secretary for Adrobaa New Apostolic; and Thomas Antwi, who served as Organiser for Adrobaa New Apostolic.

After being reached, Mr. Janamah Biiyien, the Constituency Vice Chairman, verified that some of the polling station executives identified in the album had been removed and replaced. However, he said, "I think you have to contact the Constituency Chairman."

"In point of fact, some of the names of the Polling Station executives have been changed, and the best person for you to talk to about this is the constituency chairman because I wasn't involved in that process," he continued.

Despite our best efforts, we were unable to get in touch with Mr. Karikari Agyemang, who is the Chairman of the Constituency.

In the meantime, Dr. Freda Prempeh, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano North, has formally addressed an open letter to the national leadership of the party, urging them to take immediate action to fix the issue.

The following is an excerpt from the letter that was provided to the GNA: "I write to inform you of the removal of the names of 35 persons from the list of the certified delegates in the Tano North constituency of the Ahafo Region." The letter was signed by the MP and provided as a copy to the GNA.

"During the course of the album checking process, this peculiarity was discovered. Again, five polling station executives who were being appointed to the constituency have also been replaced, which is against the directions of the party," the document continued.

Copies of the letter were forwarded to the National Chairman of the NPP, and the Ahafo Regional Executive made a plea to the leadership of the party to investigate "The complaint and have the names of the affected persons inserted in the album" in order to "restore peace for the good of the party."
