On July 11, 2023, a University of Ibadan First-Class Graduate was found dead after allegedly stealing bread. Suspects in the case were arrested.

Ebimotimi became the target of an angry mob after an alarm was triggered, which caused the crowd to act quickly.

Opuofoni Freeborn Ebimotimi, a graduate with a first-class standing from the University of Ibadan in Oyo State, Southwest Nigeria, was beaten to death by a mob in Bayelsa State on the suspicion that he had stolen food.

Idisemi Opuofoni Freeborn, his younger sister, stated that neighbors and friends who saw the incident went to the scene of the activities and pleaded with the angry teenagers to allow him to live, promising to pay for the bread in double folds, but the angry youths denied the appeal and killed him. His younger sister added that the angry youngsters did not listen to the pleading of his friends and neighbors and killed him.
