A police officer and hisaccomplice were arrested for stealing cement
Nyinihin police arrested apoliceman who ran into another policeman's unfinished housewith a bike rider.
Corporal Lansah Umar,stationed in the Asaam area of the North Ashanti region but now on leave, said he employed25-year-old Mohammed Seidu to steal the items and take them to an unknown destination. . The stolen cement bags were among the 200 placed in the unfinished house of one Sergeant John Opoku Agyemang, who is a driver ofthe Ghana Police.
Details show that he received a call informing him that thieves were in his newly built house and his cement tricycle was stolen. He also told the police team that was on patrol quickly went to the house and saw a Royal Railway named M-30-AS 9130 loaded with cement bags and the driver as he saw the team leave the bike withcement and run away.
The record of the bike that was presented led to the arrest of the suspect, Mohammed Seidu who, during interrogation, said that Corporal Lansah Umar wasthe one who took him there to take cement. The corporal was arrested and said he admitted to accepting the job of Mohammed Seidu and told the police that they had brought 12 bags of cement to his house inTwere Nyame, a suburb of Nyinahin.
President, DSP. Jerry James Amekah with the patrol team and an investigator went to the scene of the crime in Twere Nyame where the suspects stole cement. During investigation,the door of one of the rooms where Sergeant Opoku Agyemang kept 200 bags of cement to finish his house was broken by the suspects before they entered the room. The pickaxes the suspects were using were also found in front of the damaged door.
The team went to the house of the suspect, Corporal Lansah Umar, where he showed the police the 12 bags of cement they had stolen earlier. Bothhave been arrested and are facing charges of vandalism and theft.
