The much-anticipated boxing bout between British Gypsy King Tyson Fury and UFC Heavyweight Francis Ngannou will go on as proposed.
Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou will meet in a huge heavyweight crossover boxing match later this year to determine who is the beast in the cage. WBC heavyweight champion Fury will take on former UFC heavyweight champion Ngannou in a 10-round fight in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on October 28.
It will be Fury's first bout since his TKO victory over Derek Chisora at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in December. Ngannou's first professional boxing bout and first fight since he announced his departure from the UFC in January. The Cameroonian-French fighter signed a multi-fight deal with the Professional Fighter League in May but has yet to debut for the promotional company.
The clash between Fury and Ngannou to find out who is the 'Baddest Man on the Planet' will take place under the official rules of pro boxing. Three judges at ringside adopt the 10-point system over 10 three-minute rounds. According to The Mirror, Fury's WBC title will not be on the line, but his unbeaten professional record of 33-0-1 could be.
While it remains to be seen whether or not Fury or Ngannou will have the fight added to their official records, the fight, which will take place in a regulation ring and be overseen by the commission, will 'for all intents and purposes be a pro boxing fight'. "As soon as that bell goes, bomb away!" Fury said in a statement.
