Despite Man City's "brilliant" progress, Jack Grealish believes he can improve in important areas next season.
Jack Grealish has emerged as a "really important player" for Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, but former Arsenal and Leicester striker Alan Smith feels he can still improve in front of goal.
Manchester City forward Jack Grealish has been warned he needs to start scoring more goals after only 11 in 89 games under Pep Guardiola.
Grealish joined City for a record-breaking Ł100 million in 2021, and former Arsenal and Leicester striker Alan Smith has been impressed by the way the 27-year-old has adapted to Guardiola's expectations, with the 27-year-old playing a major role in the Treble triumph.
Smith, on the other hand, believes he needs to improve in front of goal next season given the opportunities City creates, claiming that players can score "20 goals simply by arriving at the far post and tapping them in."
"It was great to see Grealish play such a pivotal role for Manchester City last season," Smith said to Gambling Zone. "Many players find it difficult to adjust to Guardiola's demands, and he's a very different player than he was at Villa."
"He doesn't hold the ball nearly as much anymore, but it was fantastic to see him develop into such an important player for Pep." That takes some effort in this City club, and he was there week in and week out.
"If you're picky, you could look at his goals and say that's an area where he could improve." Because City creates so many chances, Jack has the opportunity to strengthen that aspect of his game.
"I recall Sterling scoring about 20 goals one season simply by arriving at the far post and tapping them in." It is feasible (for Grealish to score more goals). Grealish can surely accomplish that, as well as score more spectacular goals.
"I'm not sure if he'd have a goal to shoot for, but he'll be looking to improve his goals and assists because the best players are always looking to improve their game season after season."
Grealish played a key role in City's Treble triumph last season, making 50 appearances across all competitions as the club celebrated their triumph over three days. Later, he hailed the festivities as the "best weekend of my life," and admitting he arrived for England duty "a little hungover."
