Steven Gerrard's Liverpool advise to Jordan Henderson as the reunion with Saudi Arabia approaches

Steven Gerrard's Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia are interested in Jordan Henderson, with the Liverpool star recently praising the Reds captain.

Liverpool, according to Steven Gerrard, "can't function" without a player like Jordan Henderson.

When Henderson's playing days were coming to a close, the Anfield legend played with him, with the former Sunderland man succeeding in recent years during a trophy-laden period for the Reds. Henderson has frequently been the guy carrying trophies, including the Premier League and Champions League.

Henderson, now in his 30s, must make a decision with Gerrard pursuing him after taking over at Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq. Clubs in the Middle Eastern country are spending big sums at players in order to get them away from European leagues, and Gerrard's fondness for Henderson is well known.

"I appreciated Jordan's power and fitness by training with him," he earlier stated. Some players play for themselves, but Jordan performs the dirty work, struggling for second balls and jogging 12 or 13 kilometers on Saturday and Wednesday, again and over. Without a cog-like Jordan Henderson, teams cannot function at the level of Liverpool. He will undoubtedly win the Premier League. I glance at him and say, "Good for you."

"He has that assurance now." He held the European Cup high above his head. I don't deserve any credit because he did everything alone, but I remember talking to Jordan in LA a while ago and he wasn't sure whether he was coming or departing at the club. I remember telling him not to give up.

Henderson's weekly salary of £200,000 may more than treble if he chooses to leave Merseyside. A bid has not yet been received by Liverpool, but one is likely in the coming days, which might lead to talks between the player and Jurgen Klopp.

The midfielder, who has been with Liverpool for 12 years, was a regular last season, but the club has undergone a massive rebuild in his position. Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai have entered while James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have been permitted to go.

This will increase competition for positions at Anfield, where Fabinho, Harvey Elliott, and Thiago are also on the books. It might limit Henderson's playing time, which could work in Gerrard's favor as he tries to entice him to join him in Saudi Arabia.

A slew of notable stars have joined Cristiano Ronaldo after his January move. Karim Benzema, the current Ballon d'Or winner, left the Premier League, as did N'Golo Kante and Ruben Neves. Henderson may also have to consider how the move will influence his England career as the country prepares for the Euros this summer.
