Christian Pulisic formally departs for AC Milan from Chelsea.
Friday, July 14 2023.
A Serie A team Ac Milan officially signs Christian Pulisic, a member of the US men's national team, who happens to be the captain has joined AC Milan on a four-year deal with a 2028 option.
After four seasons in the Premier League, the 24-year-old leaves after making 145 appearances in all competitions and winning the UEFA Champions League in 2021. The Stars and Stripes skipper is now just the third American to play for the Rosseneri, joining Sergino Dest and Oguchi Onyewu (who is currently the vice president of sports for the USA).
Being here makes me incredibly happy, indeed very excited. I'm eager. I'm eager to begin with this illustrious team, Pulisic said prior to joining. It's legendary, and I can't wait to visit and compete for titles here.
"I think there were some amazing times at Chelsea. I developed significantly as a player and learnt a lot, but I'm now fully prepared for this fantastic challenge at AC Milan, he continued.
"I recall competing in the Champions League here at San Siro, and I was astounded by what I witnessed as the supporters chanted and yelled before the game even began. The energy level was through the roof. I had never gone through anything similar.
In my opinion, San Siro, where AC Milan plays, is the best venue in the world for major matches.
The attacker is coming off a bad 2022–2023 campaign in which he played 24 games for Chelsea and registered just one goal and one assist.
The Pennsylvania native had a difficult time playing in the Premier League because of injuries, but he still managed to have a good international career by being a member of the 2022 World Cup team and most recently winning the 2023 Nations League trophy.
