Erastus Asare Donkor received the environmental sustainability award 


JoyNews reporter Erastus Asare Donkor received the Environment Advocate Award from the Department of Planning, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. 

This award
 is in recognition of his strong dedication and commitment to protecting Ghana's natural environment through his work. Students and teachers gathered to witness the Erastus Asare Donkor ceremony at a program meeting organized by the Faculty of Arts College and KNUST campus.

According to Professor Clifford Amoako, head of planning department, Erastus should be commended for his courage. He praised the journalist's resilience in the face of harassment by environmental criminals.

"At one
 point, we thought there was little political will to prevent environmental damage, the environmental fight we're in. At the same time, by hiding some politiciansinvolved in the destruction ofour environment, we cannot face the problem. We are beginning to see the persecution of those who speak out to protect the environment. “We are starting to see some attacks, even on the lives of those who want to raise the issue for discussion. But what we in the planning departmentbelieve is that when young people like Mr. Asare Donkor do it, join the fight and have the courage to sell the story, come out boldly, speak out and organizing a discussion aboutthe topic. . , they should be celebrated," he said. Erastusexpressed his gratitude for the recognition and encouraged members of the industry to join the fight to fight young cancer. 

“I feel humbled. I am honored. It is not a reward. This comesfrom our wealth planning firmsacross the country. So for education, such an institution,to recognize what I do and give me an award, and even call me 2023 Environmental Sustainability Person of the Year, I am grateful. “I would say that our existence is our property, which we should organize and manage in a sustainable way so that the nation will benefit, so that our children, future generations will see and benefit from 'what is struck and destroyed completely. It is our responsibility, it is the responsibility of all of us, each of us including education, to take responsibility and put it forward and ask to stop what is happening now and to savethese things for. future use. I think the Department of Planning (KNUST) took this initiative and I am grateful to them,” he said.
