Regarding the next general elections in 2024, Dr. Kwasi Amakye-Boateng, a Political Science Lecturer at the Kwame University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has made a daring assertion.
In spite of their firm commitment to end the eight-year cycle, the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP), in his opinion, will not be able to win the election and secure their position as the ruling party.
During an insightful conversation on the Oyerepa Breakfast Show that took place on Thursday, July 13, 2023, Dr. Amakye-Boateng forcefully conveyed his viewpoint that the NPP's mismanagement of the country's economy has left Ghanaian voters with no choice but to select for a change in leadership. The interview was held on Thursday, July 13, 2023.
Before the elections in 2024, the government of Akufo-Addo will not be able to turn the country's economic fortunes around. There is no denying the fact that the elephant will return to its natural habitat in the bush.
"The concept of 'breaking the eight' is humorous because the NPP is well aware that Ghanaian voters are patient for every government in its first term. This is something that the NPP knows very well." They lose trust in you, and they vote against you the next time around," he told Sometymer Otuo Acheampong, who was the host of the show.
According to Dr. Amakye, the slogan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), "breaking the eight," is a propaganda message that has been deftly incorporated into the policies of the Akufo-Addo government. According to him, it is quite improbable that Ghanaians will be persuaded to vote for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2024, even if significant efforts are made between now and then.
"As per usual, breaking the eight is one of the propagandist messages that Nana Addo brought up, and several of them came in the form of policies." He said.
It's too late, there won't be any miracles, and nothing will take place. It makes no difference who wins the nomination for NPP's standard-bearer... From this point forward until the elections in 2024, therefore, absolutely nothing will take place. The KNUST lecturer asserted with utmost certainty that even if the executives of the NPP were to change into angels and perform miracles with the country's wealth, the NPP would still lose the elections in 2024.
