The fall of jealousy over Bawumia will occur. NPP: Former Executive issues a stern warning
Mr. Yaw Dabie Mensah Appiah, a former regional executive of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Bono, has issued a warning that attempts by some individuals who, out of jealousy, are plotting against Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia risk hurting the fortunes of the party. He says this will happen if such individuals succeed in their plans.
He rebuked those members of the party who assert that it is not the turn of Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia to lead the party as flagbearer in the general election of 2024, stating that such an assertion is created out of jealousy and hatred towards the Vice President.
According to him, a political party such as the NPP shouldn't permit the practise of "aduru me so," which he compares to the succession system used in chieftaincy.
"A political party is not a kingdom or chieftaincy in the way you believe that there is a certain group of people who are meant to head the party. A political party is not like that at all. Let's watch what we say about this, as well as how envious we appear to be, and proceed with caution. It was a warning.
He is of the opinion that it shouldn't matter who someone is or where they come from inside the party; everyone ought to be treated equally and given the opportunity to compete for the positions that they want.
"It makes no difference whether you made it easier for Dr. Bawumia to join the party or not," she said. The truth is that he has already signed up for membership, and as a result, you ought to let him in. Attacking Dr. Bawumia won't do anything for us. It won't do anything but cut down on our numbers. Let us strive to coexist in peace. Mr. Yaw Dabbie Appiah offered his opinion.
"I will make an appeal to party members, and I will also make sure they are aware that, in order to be successful, a political party needs people," he emphasised.
The former NPP organiser also disclosed that students at a variety of universities throughout the nation are not willing to join the NPP campus chapter TESCON because of the manner in which Vice President Bawumia is being treated by some individuals in the competition for leadership of the NPP.
"They say that in NPP you need to join a queue, but they go to other parties no matter who you are, as long as you qualify to be in a position, they will allow it," he explained.
All ten candidates for president who have submitted their nomination forms for the upcoming special election for the Electoral College have been given the green light by the vetting committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which is currently in power.
