Florian Plettenberg has informed Bayern Munich that key defensive target Kyle Walker Manchester City are now considering a move for Benjamin Pavard as a replacement. The two clubs might be having a mutual conversation about the two players.

The idea of a swap deal between Manchester City and Bayern Munich may not have happened yet for Kyle Walker and Benjamin Pavard. However, it’s an evolving situation. The two fullbacks are keen on taking on another challenge, and a move to opposite ends seems possible.

Bayern Munich have chased Kyle Walker since the treble-winner finished the season. The 33-year-old initially pondered his options and decided to stay at City. The club offered him an improved deal.

However, things have changed with Bayern’s concrete interest in the 33-year-old, who is now open to joining the Bavarians. They also had Joao Cancelo on loan last season but decided against exercising the €70 million option in his deal.

Instead, they seem to prefer Walker and have now agreed personal terms with the fullback. Florian Plettenberg insists a deal until 2025 remains on the table, with the option of another season. Such a proposal may suit Walker in his quest for a more challenging challenge.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano reported that Manchester City is targeting Pavard. The Frenchman entered the final year of his contract and was widely expected to leave the Bundesliga giants this summer. The links to Pep Guardiola’s side have certainly surprised a few, but his profile will please the Catalan.

Pavard can play at right back and centrally, something Guardiola would cherish having in his side. He is also a younger alternative to Walker, although the Catalan boss might have preferred the latter. However, media reports might quickly point out the possibility of a swap deal, but that may not happen after all.

Man City are advancing in talks on the player side and could soon open dialogue with Bayern to negotiate a deal. The Bundesliga side might ask for a significant sum in exchange for the 27-year-old World Cup winner, but Manchester City cannot negotiate.
