Leicester city targeting midfielder from Chelsea on a loan deal.

Leicester City, a Championship side, is reportedly interested in signing Italian midfielder Cesare Casadei from Chelsea. Casadei, who joined Chelsea from Inter Milan for £17 million in 2022, spent the previous season on loan at Reading. He recently won the Golden Boot at the Under-20 World Cup, scoring seven goals and attracting interest from various teams.

According to The Telegraph, Casadei is a highly sought-after player in the Championship, and Leicester City is particularly keen on acquiring his services. With the departure of James Maddison to Tottenham Hotspur for £45 million, Leicester manager Enzo Maresca hopes that young talents like Casadei can help boost the club's chances of promotion at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

A move to the Championship would provide Casadei with more opportunities for senior football before returning to Chelsea. The 20-year-old midfielder already had a loan spell in the Championship with Reading last season, making 15 appearances and scoring one goal. After suffering relegation in the 2022-23 season, Leicester aims to recoup more than £80 million from the sales of Maddison and Harvey Barnes.

Other clubs, including Newcastle, Aston Villa, and West Ham, have shown interest in Barnes, a 25-year-old winger. Leicester has also lost Youri Tielemans to Aston Villa, creating a midfield gap that Casadei could potentially fill during their Championship campaign. Casadei has trained under Roberto Mancini at the international level and has demonstrated his potential during his loan spell at Reading.

With his promising talent, Leicester hopes to secure a loan deal for Casadei to enhance their prospects of returning to Premier League football. Enzo Maresca, the Italian manager who replaced Brendan Rodgers in April 2023, brings experience from Serie A, La Liga, and the Premier League. Maresca previously worked as an assistant manager under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City and now aims to rebuild a struggling Leicester side. The additions of Conor Coady from England and Harry Winks from Tottenham have already been made, and Maresca is optimistic that securing fellow Italian Casadei on loan will propel Leicester back into the Premier League.
