Chelsea & Spurs given £34.6m transfer hope as Celta chief confirms Veiga stance in this summer transfer window

Celta Vigo's young midfielder, Gabri Veiga, has attracted significant interest from Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Tottenham, due to his impressive performances in La Liga. Celta Vigo's sporting director, Juan Carlos Calero, has given the English clubs fresh hope of signing the 21-year-old midfielder. However, he stated that Veiga is not for sale unless a lucrative bid is submitted.

Veiga, whose contract with Celta Vigo runs until 2026, featured in 36 matches in La Liga last season, contributing to 15 goals. His performances have caught the attention of Paris Saint-Germain, increasing the competition for his signature. Calero made it clear that Celta Vigo's president has stated Veiga is not for sale but acknowledged the possibility of considering a proposal if one is made. However, as of now, no official bid has been tabled.

Reports had suggested that Chelsea would make a move for Veiga once Mason Mount's transfer to Manchester United was finalized. The Blues' original plan was to sign only one defensive midfielder. However, with the departure of several midfielders, Veiga became a viable option, with his £34.6 million release clause seen as an attractive proposition. Despite these reports, Calero confirmed that neither Chelsea nor Tottenham have made an official bid for the Spanish midfielder.

Calero acknowledged that there has been interest in Veiga and that other teams offer him higher wages than Celta Vigo can afford. While Celta Vigo would prefer to retain Veiga for the upcoming season, Calero recognized the challenges they face in competing with stronger clubs. Their stance is clear: any club interested in Veiga must meet his release clause to secure his services.

As the transfer window progresses, the future of Gabri Veiga remains uncertain. While Celta Vigo is determined to hold onto their prized midfielder, the allure of Premier League football and the financial advantages offered by other clubs could potentially sway Veiga's decision. The situation will likely unfold closer to the end of the transfer window, and it remains to be seen whether Chelsea, Tottenham, or any other club will make a decisive move to secure the services of this talented young player.
