The Member of Parliament (MP) for Manso- Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region, George Kwabena Takyi, has expressed his sadness and disappointment over claims made by some constituents who desire his demise in order to facilitate development in the area.
The MP, representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP), described these sentiments as unfortunate and a grave misunderstanding of the democratic process. In a recent statement, George Kwabena Takyi revealed that he was deeply troubled by the disturbing wishes expressed by a few individuals within his constituency. He emphasized that the role of a Member of Parliament is to serve the people, represent their interests, and work towards the overall development of the area.
The MP expressed his unwavering commitment to the welfare of his constituents, asserting that his purpose in politics is to effect positive change and uplift the lives of the people he represents. He implored the constituents to have faith in the democratic process and to channel their concerns and aspirations through peaceful means. He called for unity and urged his constituents to work together towards a common goal of development and progress.
TV3 in an interview with some residents of Kumawu where a bye elections was held recently, they told journalists that " We saw them bringing a grader to clear the road for construction, so I asked myself that if the MP should not have died, the road wouldn' t have been constructed"
They continued that massive developments have been seen in Kumawu and Assin North hence same can happen when their MPs die.
" Then it clicked to me that anybody whose MP is an NPP member should pray to God to kill the person. Yes, because if God doesn' t kill them, they won' t get any development in their constituency …because if you come to my constituency"
