Manchester United set to begin talks over striker Target with Atalanta for this summer.
Manchester United is set to resume talks with Atalanta regarding the potential signing of striker Rasmus Hojlund. The club is still in the process of exchanging paperwork for the transfer of Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, but the expected fee of around £41 million leaves United with room in their budget to pursue the deal for Hojlund.
Atalanta has rejected offers involving player exchanges thus far, as they value the Danish forward at £86 million, considering the premium placed on young center-forwards in the current market. However, it is suggested that an offer in the region of £65 million could be sufficient to reach an agreement. Nevertheless, this valuation seems relatively high for a 20-year-old striker who scored just ten goals for Atalanta in the previous season.
Hojlund, who is currently represented by SEG, the same agency as United manager Erik ten Hag, has expressed his desire to join the club. His potential arrival would provide United with the flexibility to consider offers for Anthony Martial while potentially sending Mason Greenwood out on loan, given Marcus Rashford's recent agreement to a new five-year contract.
Furthermore, United expects to receive offers for Fred, who is a target for Galatasaray, as well as Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay, which could open the door for the acquisition of Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat. It is worth noting that Liverpool has not yet shown significant interest in the Dutch-born Moroccan midfielder, making it possible for United to secure a deal for around £25 million.
As negotiations progress, football fans eagerly await further developments regarding Manchester United's potential signings. The acquisition of Hojlund would provide United with added depth and options in their attacking lineup, while potential departures and other transfers could further shape the composition of the squad.
