Nana Kwame Mensah-Bonsu, the Otumfuo Ahenenanom Hene, has criticised President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for failing to deliver development projects to the Ashanti Region, and he has envisioned former President John Mahama as the benevolent leader of the nation once more. This criticism was made in an interview with the Ghana News Agency.
He claimed that President Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) were mistreating the Ashanti Region, which had been more successful under the leadership of the National Democratic Congress and John Mahama's administration than under any NPP administration.
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), which receives few votes in the Ashanti Region, has done more projects there than the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, according to Nana Mensah-Bonsu, a sub-chief of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II who stated in an interview with Angel Fm.
He further stated that the Akufo-Addo administration is the worst one he had ever witnessed and questioned "whether the president had any education."
"I have come to battle for the people of Ashanti. It is important that Akufo-Addo visits the Ashanti Region to highlight all of the development initiatives he has brought to the area, and it is also important that Mahama does the same.
When Akufo-Addo first entered politics, did he continue his education, and if so, who was his classmate? Who did he study law with at the university? Who was his roommate throughout his time at the university? He is not responsible for the development of any projects in the Ashanti Region.
"I beg of you to call the NDC and call the NPP and have them come and answer for what they have done in the Ashanti Region. Please do this as soon as possible. We are not naive in any way. If we were blind yesterday, today we can see that it is pouring and the earth is moist. I even saw John Mahama serving and being president again in my dream," he added in Twi. "If we were blind yesterday, today we can see."
The Otumfuo Ahenenana went on to highlight a number of projects that were started by the administration of John Dramani Mahama, including the Sofoline Interchange in Kumasi, which the Akufo-Addo government has failed to complete in the over six years that it has been in office. The Otumfuo Ahenenana criticised the Akufo-Addo government for not completing the projects.
He exhorted the chiefs of the Ashanti people to speak up, and he implored the people of the Ashanti region to vote wisely for their own benefit in the upcoming election.
