China remains Ghana's largest trading partner - Ambassador Lu Kun 


Lu Kun, China's ambassador to Ghana, said China
 remains Ghana's biggest trading partner and source of foreign investment.

He said the bilateral trade valuereached $10 billion, growing7.3 percent annually. He made it known that China has been a big business in Africa for thirteen years.

 Lu Kun said this while handing over US $50,000 worth of aid to flood victims inHo in the Volta Region. He said that the Chinese government has contributed to the development of Ghana'seconomy and the welfare of Ghanaians. 

Explaining
 some of the efforts and activities, he said, last May,for example, China joined Ghana's creditor committee as chairman and supported the process for the country to get $3 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in record time. In addition, China's capitalized aviation industry, power industry, metal industry, ceramics industry and cement industry have helped create jobs and boost productivity in line with the One-District-One Factory (1D1F) strategy. ). 

He also said that China has helped in the construction of modern polytechnics, technicaland vocational training centers, installed in the port ofJamestown and the participation of foreign countries in the regional integration that continues to progress. face He pointed to China's involvement in the construction of five facilitiesunder a joint venture agreement between the Ghanaian government and Synohydro. 

Mr.
 Lu Kun said that Ghana was one of the first countries in sub-Saharan Africa to havediplomatic relations with China in 1960 and to vote for the restoration of the seat of the Republic of China in the United Nations in 1971. Also, during the COVID-19 pandemic, China was the first to send an airplaneof medicine to Africa and Ghana as the first stop, adding that his country has provided aid to 53 African countries, helping more than 1,000 aid projects without any political bias, he said.



In addition,
 the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation(FOCAC) in 2000, and China'strade and investment in the continent in the past two decades have increased 20 times and 100 times respectively, demonstrating its commitment to the welfare of the people, he said. Ambassador Lu Kun said thatChina and Africa have a long relationship and similar historical experiences, "wealways support each other in our efforts for independence and national development."
