ECG Managing Director, Samuel Dubik Mahama Esq
Samuel Dubik Mahama, the Managing Director of the Electricity firm of Ghana (ECG), has stated that he has given up hope of recovering the stolen vehicles that belong to the firm.
According to him, his organisation has been providing the Police Service with assistance in locating and recovering the automobiles.
Mr. Mahama, who was providing an update on the investigation into the robbery event to the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, said that his Director of Legal Affairs made contact with the Police around four months ago to understand the state of the inquiry. Mr. Mahama was providing information to the committee as part of his presentation.
"We have filed a report about the incident with the authorities. We were able to lend assistance to the investigations being conducted by the authorities. They are going to wrap up and then advise us as to the appropriate course of action.
"From the position that I have as Managing Director, let me just state that I am not looking forward to once more getting those automobiles. "At this point, all I'm doing is awaiting the conclusion of the Ghana Police Service's investigation into the matter," he explained.
During his presentation to the Committee on the circumstances surrounding the theft of the vehicles, the Managing Director of ECG stated that "the whole investigative report is not here, as it was taken from the guy at gunpoint...at various moments, but never all at the same one."
Mr. Mahama mentioned that the robbery did not result in any injuries to any of the drivers who were involved.
In spite of this, he assured the Committee that he is satisfied that the drivers are still employees of the company despite the fact that they are not now allocated to drive.
In response to a question about whether or not it was merely a coincidence that all three vehicles were stolen at gunpoint, Mr. Mahama stated, "It didn't happen on the same day; it happened around different times." There is a mixture of time and space in many locales. I believe that two of them were held at gunpoint, and one of them had the vehicle parked in front of their house.
