The nine candidates are of the opinion that a decentralised strategy for a restricted number of voters may not be the most logical solution, and they are emphasising how important it is to hold the elections at a single location where all 900 delegates can be found.New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the forthcoming election in 2024 have come together to file a petition to the leadership of the party, seeking that the special delegates congress that is planned to take place on August 26 be centralised.

Former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko, Former General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong, Former Minister of Regional Integration Kofi Konadu Apraku, Former Member of Parliament for Mampong Francis Addai-Nimoh, and Former Attorney General Joe Ghartey are the individuals in question.

Alan Kyerematen, a former minister of trade, Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a former minister of agriculture, Kennedy Agyepong, a member of parliament for Assin Central, and a former presidential aide make up the rest of the group.

The candidates for the party's presidential nomination are of the opinion that holding the election on a regional scale could be harmful to the cohesiveness and unity of the party.

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia is the only candidate who is not in favour of centralising the special delegates congress. Other candidates are on board with the idea.

The nine candidates are of the opinion that a decentralised strategy for a restricted number of voters may not be the most prudent solution, and they are emphasising how important it is to hold the elections at a location that can accommodate all 900 delegates at the same time.

Therefore, the nine candidates want the elections to take place at a single location so that all of the 900 delegates who are registered to attend the congress can congregate there.

The party will be able to reduce the number of candidates for the position of flagbearer at the Congress on August 26. According to the provisions of the constitution of the party, the number of presidential candidates must be cut down from ten to five by the 26th of August.
