Professor Hamza Adam, the Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, has demanded that an investigation be conducted into the millions of dollars and euros that are rumoured to be stored in the residence of Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah.
According to Professor Adam, it is against the law to obtain a specific sum of money in Ghana because of the country's regulations.
There are rumours that Madam Cecilia Dapaah had a stash of cash at her residence that included $1 million, €300,000, and millions of Ghana Cedis that were not made public.
Two housemaids are currently on trial in an Accra circuit court for the theft of the aforementioned funds, which they are said to have taken.
On Friday, July 21, Professor Adam addressed this topic while giving an interview to the press inside of parliament. He said, "First and foremost, it is illegal to keep certain money, at home particularly foreign." Therefore, a sum in the millions of dollars will come as a complete and utter surprise.
"I will appeal to all the sketchers who matter to investigate the matter so that we will get to the bottom of the issue because it is shocking if you look at the quantum of the amount that is allegedly found at her residence," she said. "I will appeal to all the sketchers who matter to investigate the matter so that we will get to the bottom of the issue." If we received such a large sum of money, we wouldn't have to go to the International Monetary Fund.
The assertions that I support Alan over Bawumia are foolish and misguided says Osafo-Maafo.
He continued by saying, "That is also a wake-up call, which means we have to go down and investigate all ministers who are serving the country at the present time." It simply implies that while everyone else is losing their lives, the stakes are getting higher, and people's means of subsistence are deteriorating, some people are hunkering down in gold mines. I am making a plea to the various stakeholders who play an important role to do additional research.
"I think it is important that the minister, as a matter of urgency, relinquishes her position as the minister, the reason being that it may interfere with the investigation process. Otherwise, the president must compel her to resign."
