Cecilia Dapaa And A Plus
Cecilia Dapah is the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources in addition to holding the A Plus position.
Kwame Asare Obeng, formerly a singer and now a political activist, is better known by his stage name A Plus. He recently commented on the large quantities of money, both in foreign currency and in Ghana cedis, that are rumoured to have been stolen from the residence of Cecilia Abena Dapaah, the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources.
When making his point, A Plus mentioned the amount of money that her ministry spent on the desilting of the Odaw basin. He did this to imply that it might not be that shocking for her to have such wealth in her residence.
On July 21, 2023, A Plus took to his Facebook page and released a video footage of Cecilia Dapaah responding to a parliamentary session, where she addressed the aforementioned Odaw River desilting project. The video clip was posted there.
The video was accompanied by a statement written by A Plus that read, "Are you surprised that someone who spent 43 million dollars on the desilting of the Odaw basin has $1 million dollars and Koominini sitting in her house?"
Background:
The audacious robberies took place at the couple's residence in Abelemkpe, which is a suburb of Accra, over the course of a period of three months beginning in July 2022 and ending in October 2022, as stated in an official charge sheet issued by an Accra Circuit Court.
The suspects, whose names have been revealed to be Patience and Sarah, are being held on extremely serious allegations, which include conspiracy to commit a crime as well as many crimes of theft involving astonishingly large sums of money.
Not only was money taken, but the accused are also suspected of making off with Madam Cecilia Abena Dapaah's personal things, including expensive clothing, handbags, jewellery, and fragrances. This is in addition to the monetary assets that were taken. The total worth of the products that were taken was an astounding 95,000 Ghana cedis and 95,000 dollars.
Patience was accused of working alone in the theft of cultural relics, including six pieces of Kente cloth for GH90,000 and six sets of men's clothes valued at US$3,000, which belonged to the minister's husband. Additional claims were that Patience stole these items from the minister's husband.
The court has also charged three other people in connection with the thefts, which demonstrates how complicated the case is.
It is alleged that the accused spent the stolen money on a variety of assets and expenditures, such as renting a three-bedroom apartment and a store in Tamale, purchasing vehicles, and supporting other personal needs.
In the meantime, the court has continued its investigations and postponed the case until August 2, 2023.
