NANA OYE BLASTS AKUFO-ADDO OVER HANDLING OF CECILIA DAPAAH'S RESIGNATION

Akufo-Addo has come under fire from Nana Oye for the way he handled Cecilia Dapaah's resignation.

Former Gender Minister Nana Oye Bampoe Addo has lashed out at President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over the substance of a letter the first gentleman of the land issued to accept the resignation of Cecilia Abena Dapaah from the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources portfolio. The letter was issued to accept the resignation of Cecilia Abena Dapaah from the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources portfolio.

During an interview with members of the media that took place on Monday at the Asomdwe Park in Accra to commemorate the 11th anniversary of the passing of former President John Evans Atta Mills, Nana Oye made these remarks.

In addition, she asked that Ghana's current President Akufo-Addo reveal to the country's populace the origin of the aforementioned individual's fortune.

It is a stain on the leadership of President Akufo-Addo and it should not be overlooked. To say that I was underwhelmed by the president's letter of acceptance of Cecilia Dapaah would be an understatement. It's been about a week, and he still hasn't done anything that I can imagine him doing. It is quite unfortunate that the President would write such a letter. Ghanaians are keeping a close eye on him, therefore the sooner he makes a statement, the better. Take a look at the level of corruption. The sum of money is really significant.

"Ghana has degenerated into a farce. It is really unfortunate for Ghana that a cabinet minister has reported without fear that a significant amount of money belonging to her has been stolen. Why hasn't the President made any sort of statement? As Ghanaian citizens, we are requesting that you bring Cecilia Dapaah before you and question her about where she received the money.

Nii Lante Vanderpuije, a member of parliament for the Odododiodio Constituency, urged President Akufo-Addo to step aside and let the anti-corruption agencies handle the investigation into Cecilia Dapaah's case. Vanderpuije is the constituency's member of parliament.

"While it may come as a shock that this has taken place, the scope of what has transpired is unfathomable. We won't do anything but sit tight and watch to see what the verdict in this case is. According to his point of view, the most beneficial action that the president could take would be to "stay off" and give the Office of the Special Prosecutor and other anti-corruption institutions the opportunity to do their jobs.

He encouraged those in charge of communication for the government to stop trying to rationalise the scandal.

"In the view of Ghanaians and the general public, the more they try to explain, the more ridiculous they appear. Those who are attempting to provide an explanation are quickly becoming a source of amusement because the justifications presented are absurd. He said that rather than making excuses, they should simply apologise and seek Ghanaians for forgiveness.

On Saturday, July 22, 2023, Madam Cecilia Dapaah made the announcement that she would be resigning. The findings that her house helpers took significant amounts of both foreign and local cash from her property in Accra led to her decision to resign from her position.

Patience Botwe, age 18, and Sarah Agyei, age 30, are the two housemaids who are currently being prosecuted in an Accra circuit court for their alleged participation in the crime. Patience and Sarah are both housemaids.
