The country was shocked this week after a purported leaked audio popped up in connection with the Inspector General of Police. In the alleged audio, there were discussions about dismissing Dr. Akuffo Dampare because of his nonalignment with the New Patriotic Party. The discussants are believed to be police commissioners who feel that the presence of Dampare will not augur well for the ruling New Patriotic Party going into the 2024 elections.
Last week, Paul Adom Otchere on his show, Good Evening Ghana, mentioned that he has credible evidence that the one who recorded the audio is Bugri Naabu. He noted that Bugri Naabu, a former NPP chairman for the Northern Region, is a close ally of Akuffo Dampare and so trapped the other police commissioners into speaking ill about the IGP. Paul insisted that Bugri Naabu did the recording so he could win the favour of the IGP.
Well, Bugri Naabu has responded to the allegations that he is the one behind the recordings of the leaked audio. Bugri Naabu sent a text to Paul Adom Otchere asking why the journalist failed to come to him for answers before spreading lies on his show. He called on Paul Adom Otchere to retract the words he used on him on his show last week. He called for a retraction on the comments on him being the culprit behind the recording.
Paul refused to retract or apologize, but insisted that his evidence is credible. He mentioned that he is displaying the message Bugri Naabu sent to him so Ghanaians will hear the version of the former regional chairman. Paul pointed some holes in Bugri Naabu' s message to him and declared that he is still investigating and will have to hear every side of the story before making a stand. Paul is set to meet Bugri Naabu tomorrow for an interview on the leak audio brouhaha.
