Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president of Nigeria, has stated that the country is having trouble finding leaders who are bright, inventive, and visionary enough to help the country realise its potential and put it on the path to prosperity.
He said that the majority of Nigeria's leaders are not equipped with the necessary knowledge and comprehension of the positions they seek since they do not have anything in their heads.
This allegation was made by Obasanjo as he was making a keynote presentation at the launch of the book 'Reclaiming The Jewel of Africa' in Abuja. The book was written by a former minister named Olusegun Aganga.
According to Obasanjo, "You will weep for our nation over their level of emptiness as far as development issues are concerned." Obasanjo made this statement.

However, Obasanjo, who was represented by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, stated that "total dismantling is destructive and retrogressive." Obasanjo agreed with the author's call for improvements, but he stated that "total dismantling" is not the solution.
He made the observation that the book "does not place adequate emphasis on leadership as the crucial and critical defining and decisive factor in determining the shape, form, direction, speed, content, and trajectory of development for any human organisation and especially for a nation like Nigeria." He was referring to the fact that the book was written about Nigeria.
According to him, "leadership is the key to unlock and remove the impediment to Nigeria's attainment of its divine stature and status and being kept a Lilliputian."
He said that the majority of the country's leaders, "If you ask why they want to be in the position they are craving for, you will weep for your nation over their level of emptiness as far as development issues are concerned." He was referring to the fact that most of the country's leaders have a desire to be in a certain position.
"What do they consider to be necessary in order to actualize peace, security, stability, predictability, development, growth, and progress? I am of the opinion that democracy, wealth, peace, and security cannot be separated from one another.
