Sarkodie, one of the most influential figures in Ghanaian rap, recently revealed that he continues to compensate his former label signees even after they have left his label.
Sarkodie disclosed in an exclusive interview with Angela Yee on the highly regarded "Way Up Show" in New York City that he has a profound sense of empathy for his former Sarckcess Music signees such as StrongMan and Akwaboah. The conversation was conducted in New York City.
According to the artist who is commonly known as the "Landlord," he had a distinctive method of managing artists that places a priority on fairness, mutual respect, and real concern for the well-being of his artists.
"I feel for them and I feel like I'll like to give them what I would want if I had the same situation," he said on the show. "I feel like I'll like to give them what I would want if I had the same situation."
Sarkodie disclosed that despite being the sole investor of each artist's career, he offered them each a 50/50 percentage of their earnings, which is an agreement that he himself would value if he were in their position and was an artist.
During the course of the interview, Sarkodie frankly shared his thoughts by stating, "Probably I was one of the only labels that would give 50/50 percentage while I was putting in the money because that is what I would ever love for myself." During the conversation.
Strongman mentions inviting top rappers like Sarkodie, Eno, and Medikal to his housewarming party after his mansion is finished being built. He is planning to have the celebration in Ghana.
The artist known for the song "Money No Be Problem" also revealed that his record label continues to support them even if they have already moved on to other projects.
"All my artistes had a good run with me, and they still get paid even though they're not on my label," Sarkodie confirmed. "I have a good relationship with all of them."
A number of years have passed since all of the signees left the management to pursue their own professional ambitions, and this is the first time the well-known rapper has spoken on things connected to his label and the artists signed to it.
"I just felt at a certain point I just need to look out for artistes," Sarkodie added, showing his deep-rooted devotion to the well-being of people with whom he collaborates. "I just felt at a certain point I just need to look out for artistes," Sarkodie stated.
